Local Law 33

Energy Letter Grades

LL33 requires owners of buildings over 25,000 square feet to obtain Building Energy efficiency rating labels on an annual basis to display near public-facing entrance.

These labels include a 1-100 ENERGY STAR® score and a corresponding A-D letter grade. Ratings are obtained through the Department of Buildings.

Benchmark Report

  • The NYC Benchmark Law, Local Law 33 of 2016, requires owners of buildings that meet the criteria outlined in the law to annually measure their energy and water consumption through a process called Benchmarking.

  • An energy benchmark report measures the energy used per square foot by your building and compares the energy-use intensity of your building against similar-use buildings adjusted for business operations and weather zone.
